Red Velvet Smoothie

A romantically earthy sweet smoothie with a red velvet influence. Delicious and nutritious!

This red velvet smoothie is one of our more recent smoothie creations that came after buying some cooked beets at Trader Joe's. With just a few simple pantry staple ingredients you can enjoy this delicious smoothie with a hint of red velvet chocolate cake goodness! Perfect for a valentines day breakfast that can be paired with our simple chocolate tahini spread over some toast.

Ingredients

  • banana: Must be frozen to achieve cold, creamy, deliciousness!
  • beets: We buy already peeled and cooked beets to make this smoothie quick and easy.
  • cocoa powder
  • maple syrup: Or two dates.
  • vanilla extract
  • plant milk: We like using soy, it's a complete protein and typically comes fortified.

Tips and Swaps

  • Sweetener: Feel free to swap maple syrup for a sweetener of your choice. Dates or agave work nicely.
  • Add: Yogurt or protein powder to fluff it up.
