Meet J & Rwe're just some vegan couple...
We create gut-friendly vegan recipes with the occasional naughty treat. Many inspired by our Spanish, Peruvian, Cuban and American roots.
Food means a lot to us, especially with one of us living with IBD. Our kitchen is where we care for each other, through every flare-up, food craving, and date-night dinners. It's how we show up, slow down, and connect.
We started SVC because we wanted a space to collect all our favorite recipes and share them with family, friends, and anyone who asks, "What do you even eat as a vegan?"
So, if you're into slow mornings, gut-friendly meals, less takeout, and cooking with someone you love, welcome.
We're glad you're here.
Becoming vegan is about making an ethical choice that aligns with our morals.
When you begin to live more mindfully you can start to see things clearly.
a little more about us
Iโm J, ๐๐พ
A former art educator, with a history of having a bunch of different jobs and interests. I have a Bachelors in Integrative General Studies with a focus on Art and a minor in Women and Gender Studies.

I was born in Spain to Cuban parents and raised in Miami. Iโve never felt fully Spanish, Cuban, or American, but growing up in that blend has deeply shaped how I cook and who I am. My relationship with food is tied to identity, family, and flavor.
๐ฑ
I went vegetarian in 2003 at the age of 15 which is when I started to learn to cook. Right before I turned 30 I went vegan, and that took my knowledge of nutrition and cooking to a whole other level.

Iโm R, ๐
A remote Software engineer that once thought Iโd be a doctor. My bachelors in Biology sparked my interest in health and science, while my Bachelors in Computer Science employed me.

I was born and raised in Miami, Florida where I spent my life surrounded by hispanic cultures, sharing pastelitos with my cuban tias, and spending my summers with my family in Peru.

In 2011, I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis. Managing a chronic condition changed the way I thought about food, health, and what my body actually needed. Itโs been a journey full of trial, error, and plenty of gut-friendly meals that helped me heal more gently.

In 2018 my dog passed away, he was my best friend of 17 years. I was heartbroken. That's when I realized that if I can connect with my dog this way, then why not other animals? I stopped eating meat shortly after. ๐๐๐ค๐
