If you love those cozy Autumn lattes from your favorite coffee shop but want to enjoy a homemade, vegan version, you’re in the right place! This Pumpkin Spice Sauce recipe is not only easy to whip up, but it’s also a delightful way to embrace the season.
Pumpkin spice is a symbol to the start of the cozy season, and we love the flavors and aromas that come with it. There's something about seasonal foods and smells that gets me excited for this last stretch of the year.
Why You'll Love this Simple Pumpkin Spice Sauce
- It's the quickest pumpkin spice syrup recipe to make. Comes together in seconds without having to cook or heat anything up!
- It's a vegan version to the Starbucks syrup! With less sugar and no dairy!
- Uses just three ingredients!
- Makes delicious PSLs and can be used in many other recipes!
Is Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte Vegan?
Unfortunately no, Starbucks uses condensed milk in their pumpkin spice sauce that contains dairy. But that's okay! Starbucks is more of a social club and we honestly don't find that coffee to be anything special. Save yourself the money and make your PSLs in the comfort of your home, with no dairy and less sugar!
How to Make Pumpkin Spice Syrup?
Making this pumpkin spice syrup is quick and easy, and uses just three ingredients!
- Vegan Condensed Milk: We used a coconut condensed milk which does add a hint coconut flavor, which we personally love, but if you don't enjoy the taste of coconut, here's a condensed oat-milk.
- Pumpkin Puree: Make sure it's pure pumpkin puree, not pumpkin pie filling, which often gets confused.
- Pumpkin Spice Mix: can be homemade using this recipe, or store bought.
How to Store Pumpkin Spice Sauce?
Pour into an airtight container, and store in your fridge for 1 - 2 weeks. Keep in mind the mixture will thicken a bit once refrigerated and probably wont pour out of the container as easily. Use a container that has a large enough opening were you can use a spoon to scoop some syrup out, or transfer the sauce into a squeezable bottle.
How to Make Pumpkin Spice Blend?
Making your own pumpkin spice mix is easy! Just combine a few ground spices and you're done!
- Cinnamon
- Ginger
- Cloves
- Nutmeg
- Allspice
Or feel free to use store bought pumpkin spice mix.
How to Make a Pumpkin Spice Latte
Once you have this syrup prepared, making a pumpkin spice latte is super simple.
- Brew Coffee: Brew your favorite coffee or espresso. If you want a true latte experience, aim for a double shot of espresso.
- Steam Your Milk: Heat and froth your plant-based milk until it's creamy and bubbly. If you don’t have a frother, simply heat it on the stove or in the microwave, then whisk vigorously or use a french press to froth.
- Assemble Your Latte: In your favorite coffee mug, combine 1-2 tablespoons of your pumpkin spice sauce with the brewed coffee or espresso. Pour in the steamed milk and gently stir.
- Top and Serve: If you’re feeling fancy, top your latte with whipped coconut cream and sprinkle a bit of extra pumpkin pie spice or cinnamon on top.
