As people who grew up in the subtropics of Miami, we love our tropical fruits. This combination of mango, pineapple, and papaya is a perfect refreshing blend of fruits, and if you’ve made the Tropical Fruit and Hummus Sandwich, this is a great recipe to use up those leftover fruits!
Ingredients
mango
pineapple
papaya
coconut water or orange juice
turmeric powder and black pepper
ginger juice
Coconut Water or Orange Juice
This is really up to you, alternatively you can also blend with water or another juice or liquid of your choice. If the orange juice is good quality, I prefer the orange juice, but since so many brands of orange juice here in the states are more acidic than sweet we think coconut water tastes a bit more refreshing.
How to Make Ginger Juice
We have a post on making ginger juice without a juicer here. We highly recommend juicing ginger and freezing it in ice cube trays. We then transfer them to a airtight freezer safe container. This is great to add to other drinks and smoothies, like our delicious Green Smoothie.
Fresh or Frozen Fruits
Personally we love to use frozen fruits, it gives the smoothie a creamier texture and makes it perfectly cold without adding ice, but it’s fine either way. If it’s mango season here in Florida we use fresh mangoes and blend it with frozen pineapple and papaya. It really depends on what’s available and what we currently have. But even with fresh fruit, we still like to chop and freeze them for smoothies. It makes our mornings easier to have the fruit already prepped and frozen.
