Guava + Cheese Pastry
- 1 package puff pastry vegan friendly
- ½ block guava paste
- ½ cup vegan cream cheese that is nut or tofu base, NOT oil based
Simple Syrup
- 1 part organic white sugar
- 1 part hot water
Preheat oven to pastry package directions.
Cut 1 package puff pastry into squares and fill the center of the dough with a scoop of ½ cup vegan cream cheese and a slice of ½ block guava paste.
To seal, fold diagonal corners of the dough to make a triangle and gently press the dough to close. Poke the top with a fork.
Make a quick simple syrup with equal 1 part organic white sugar and 1 part hot water . Mix until the sugar has dissolved.
Spread the tops of the pastry with simple syrup and bake according to package directions. Once they are golden brown, remove from oven and let them cool on a rack.
Serve and enjoy!
It's important to use a nut or tofu based cream cheese. Cheeses that are primarily oil based will liquefy and spill out of the pastry.
