  • 1 Pizza Cutter or knife

Ingredients

Guava + Cheese Pastry

  • 1 package puff pastry vegan friendly
  • ½ block guava paste
  • ½ cup vegan cream cheese that is nut or tofu base, NOT oil based

Simple Syrup

  • 1 part organic white sugar
  • 1 part water

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to pastry package directions
  • Cut pastry dough into squares

  • Fill the center of the dough with cream cheese and a slice of guava

  • To seal, fold diagonal corners of the dough to make a triangle

  • Gently press the dough to close

  • Poke the top with a fork

  • Make a quick simple syrup with equal parts sugar and hot water
  • Spread the tops with simple syrup

  • Bake according to package directions
  • Once they are golden brown, remove from oven and let them cool on a rack

Notes

It's important to use a nut or tofu based cream cheese. Cheeses that are primarily oil based will liquefy and spill out of the pastry.
