Like the classic strawberry banana smoothie but so much more refreshing! Enjoy this delicious and bright colored smoothie as an easy breakfast or as a snack on-the-go! Having apple juice as the base makes it lighter and balances the acidity of the pineapple for a perfectly sweetened smoothie, just like in our favorite super green smoothie!

Ingredients

  • Strawberries: we prefer fresh organic berries.
  • Banana: use a frozen ripe banana to achieve a creamy texture.
  • Pineapple: we use already cubed and frozen pineapple.
  • Apple juice: adds a natural sweetness that balances the acidity of the pineapple.
  • Protein powder (optional): we love to use plain pea protein powder.

Strawberry Banana Smoothie without Dairy

Yep this recipe takes no yogurt or any dairy- including plant based options. The liquid base is apple juice which gives this smoothie its perfect sweetness to balance the acidity of pineapple, or any fruit that might not be as sweet. If you find apple juice to be too sweet, cut it with a bit of water.
Although yogurt can add creaminess to a smoothie, using a ripe frozen banana gives smoothies their ultimate creamy texture.

Tips

  • If you are using mostly frozen fruit and/or if you add protein powder, you might need to adjust the amount of apple juice (or liquid of choice) to blend.
  • Creamy smoothies are made with frozen bananas. We always have a bag of frozen ripe bananas ready for use! Peel and break the banana into about 4-5 pieces, we simply do this with our hands to avoid dirtying a cutting board and knife, then place in a sealed bag or container in your freezer.
  • Make banana peel bacon with the banana peels! It's simple, tasty, and prevents food waste!

  • 4 strawberries fresh or frozen
  • 1 banana frozen
  • 1 cup pineapple fresh or frozen
  • cups apple juice adjust if needed
  • 1 scoop pea protein powder optional

Instructions

  • Add all ingredients to your blender and blend until smooth.
  • Adjust the amount of liquid if needed. Feel free to use some water with the apple juice if it is too sweet for you.
